Who is that Bum?

Just an IB surf bum.  Imagine this character in a full wetsuit with hood, board under his arm peddling down the street to his favorite surf break perched on a rusted Schwinn Ladies Breeze bicycle.

I had been growing this beard for five months.  I do not think I will do it again so I took a series of self-portraits to document my scruff.

Fallen and Drown

People would think there is no Fall in Southeast Arizona.  Here is proof.  Taken two years ago (2006) in Garden Canyon.  There is a lot to see in that canyon.  Most of the time you just walk over or through it.  Your first few times there you have so much to see that you miss the little things.  This photo was cropped out of a whole different composition, too bad there are focusing issues.  For quite a while I spent sessions devoted to the water.  I think I may post more..................................

My Eye

So, you want to know about my eye do you? It is something I picked up in Costa Rica this past July. Pretty cool shells. I got a few of them, but this one fit over my eye the best. We where messing around with them in Costa Rica and when I decided on the name for my blog the shells came to mind via a few other mental stops. What would I use as the header for my blog? That led to what photos I had of myself and which would best complement the title of my blog. None as it turned out so then I had to compose a shot. I had thought of just having the left side of my face lit since my left eye is dominant. Too plain, then the thought of the shell came to mind. So there you have it. A left eyed, right-handed, amateurish, photog with little creativity.

As for the photos, yes all of the photos to date here have been my shots. Yes even the eye shot. That one took me a while to get and I am still not very happy with it. Maybe one day when I get some free time (yah right) I will redo that one.

What is art?  The photo, utility box painting or some twisted lengths of pipe stuck in the ground that when viewed from the correct angle spell out the word "ART"?  You tell me.  I have my own angle on the point, but I will leave it to you.

An early morning surf check on a gloomy morning.  A handheld exposure came out pretty stable.  I converted this from a color exposure.  There wasn't much color to work with originally so why not?

Well, I got here by accident.  I was looking at my niece's family blog and wondered what else was out there.  A short time later here I am with my own blog.  I can't see where there will be much interest in it, excepting my folks.  Yet, here I am and here we go.  Enjoy your view through my eye (oh, and if you have nightmares it is your own fault for going on).
